C is for Cookie

I was in the mood to bake, so I turned to my cookbooks and the internet for inspiration. I wanted something really simple and fast. I found a recipe for butter cookies with vanilla frosting and I was sold. There were about 6 ingredients total and all you had to do was mix, drop and bake.

Since it was a pretty basic recipe, I decided to add a few things to make it interesting. I divided the dough and frosting and tried out a couple flavor combinations.

Butter Cookies with Mint Frosting and Edible Glitter
Almond Butter Cookie with Vanilla Frosting

Coconut Orange Cookies with Orange Citrus FrostingAnd of course, a Butter Cookie with Vanilla Frosting (and a little sanding sugar for sparkle)

How were the coconut orange cookies? They made my tummy growl.

The orange cookies were really good. I added orange zest and toasted coconut to the dough and topped them with orange frosting.

They were soft and slightly chewy. I love orange flavored treats.
