I saw this photo and immediately thought of all the Merrills and all the dinners we had together up at the Maryfield house.
This is such a unique and delicious soup. I would never think to put avocados in a soup, but it really adds a nice creamy texture. This recipe comes from With a Measure of Grace: The Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant . This soup reminds me of my in-laws Tara and Shane, as they were the ones who discovered it and they have traveled all the way to the restaurant just for a bowl. It also now reminds me of Tiffany and her scorchingly good version she served to us at a family gathering :)
