Halloween Menu 2010

Every year I help host a Halloween Bash with my husband's aunt. This year marks our third annual Halloween Extravaganza! We're planning our menu right now, and here's what we're thinking about...

2 Pots of Chili (veg. and meat)
(monster guts)
Each year we usually have a few pots of soup bubbling away in crock pots on the counter (vegetable noodle, green chicken chili, chicken pot pie, minestrone, pumpkin corn chowder...).  But this year, we might change it up a bit and do a couple of different types of chili and serve it along side a pot of hot nacho cheese and all the fixings. Yum!

Nacho Bar (Warm Ear Wax)
Love this idea!
This goes so well with a simmering pot of chili. Bubbling Nacho Cheese in a crock pot served with 'make-it-yourself' toppings like sour cream, sliced jalapenos, diced onion, chopped tomatoes, chives, etc. Everyone can mix and match and make their own. How yummy would nachos be with a nice scoop of chili on them?!

Homemade Caramel Popcorn
(Glazed Rat Bones)
Our gooey caramel popcorn always goes fast!

Jalapeno Popper Dip
(Bat Vomit)
Gooey, cheesy, oh-so-bad-for-you dip loaded with jalapenos and topped with a golden crispy crust. If you love jalapeno poppers, then you'll love it in dip form.

Baked Spinach Balls with Marinara for dipping
(Mildew Nibbles with Blood Sauce)
A fun and tasty appetizer.

Pretzel Turtles
(Brain Bites)
This simple treat is always a crowd favorite. They get gobbled up quick, so make sure you have plenty around.

Sage Sausage Cheese Balls
(Mini Goblin Brains)
If you have meat lovers in the group, these are sure to be a hit! Just put some toothpick out and watch them disappear. You can make them ahead and freeze them until ready to bake.

Chex Pumpkin Pie Crunch
(Crunchy Varmint Carcass')
Crunchy, Sweet, Addicting. A perfect Halloween treat (despite the name).

Jello Shots!
'Nough Said

In addition to the above, we also have an assortment of other finger foods like pita and hummus, mixed nuts, toasted baguettes and artichoke dip, tortilla roll-ups, cheese and meat trays... it changes every year.
I love gearing up for our annual Halloween party! Now I just have to decide what to dress up as...
